To meet our increasingly global client base, we are centralising our HSSE teams to create a strong HSSE platform that will provide strategic and operational direction for HSSE performance, drive global consistency and excellence and meet the needs our clients, shareholders and people deserve.
Role Purpose
The EMEA Account HSSE Lead will implement and manage HSSE for two medium‑sized accounts across the EMEA region, ensuring that employees and subcontractors return home safely at the end of their working day. Based in Spain, the role is home‑based with an expectation of visibility across the region, reacting to client needs and supporting site teams with H&S.
The successful candidate will provide timely, relevant information and counsel for HSSE matters, identify risks, foster a culture of health and safety, and deliver world‑class HSSE results, improved productivity and flawless execution.
As part of Workplace Management Global HSSE, and within the EMEA HSSE supervisory team, this home‑based role will support the development of JLL HSSE strategy, reporting directly to the Senior Director of Workplace Management UK & Ireland HSSE Cluster Lead & Group Accounts Business Partner. Day‑to‑day accountability is to the EMEA Account Operations Director(s) with regular reporting on HSSE performance across the accounts.
Key stakeholders include regional Operations leads, Engineering, Risk & Compliance, Finance, HR, Projects and Client Corporate Real Estate Team leads.
What This Job Involves
Performance
Implement Global HSSE standards and bring them to life for operational relevance.
Implement the minimum requirement focus for accounts in line with HSSE across the EMEA region (account playbook, HSE plan, communications, training & monthly business reviews & quarterly in line with HSE performance for the 2 accounts).
Manage and reduce operational risks by providing guidance and advice on health and safety risk management at all levels.
Provide technical advice on relevant HSSE issues and communicate notifications of changes in legislation that will impact service delivery and/or client occupancy.
Ensure a continued working knowledge of relevant current legislation.
Identify improvement opportunities and support the account team in identifying practical cost‑effective solutions and controls for HSSE risks.
Ensure building‑related risk assessments are in place in line with legal requirements and Client Global Risk Control Standards.
Manage incident and accident investigations.
Organise, implement and maintain an effective account HSSE communication plan.
Partake in client‑related audits and engagements, whether in person or remotely.
Leadership
Foster a culture of safety across the account.
Lead, manage and develop the account regional HSSE teams, maintaining an appropriate structure to ensure operational HSSE management.
Support regional workplace leads within EMEA in developing their approach to H&S across the 85 sites in that region.
Proactively develop and manage client relationships to ensure expected service levels are achieved.
Deliver an exceptional quality of service to the account, reflected by client feedback.
Embed JLL Workplace Management HSSE vertical requirements and meet client requirements and standards from a managing‑agent only account.
Establish effective relationships and work co‑operatively with the account teams, organisations, and 3rd‑party vendors.
Contribute to the Workplace Management HSSE program as part of the global HSSE leadership team.
Ensure 3rd‑party vendors maintain compliance with JLL Workplace Management and HSSE Standards at all times.
Standards
Oversee the implementation and maintenance of JLL Global HSSE operational controls, ensuring compliance with HSSE obligations and JLL’s HSSE aspirations.
Drive the development of best practice HSSE training programmes and resources.
Implement HSSE strategy and operating protocols for the safety performance of JLL’s contractors and supply‑chain vendors.
Oversee the successful delivery of HSSE regulatory responsibilities and best practices globally, securing regulatory compliance, including management of change related to new and revised legislation.
Oversee the successful management of assurance for the HSSE programme, while supporting growth strategies related to Client, JLL and/or national and industry standards.
To apply you need to be / have
The Candidate
Experience
Minimum 5 years HSSE management experience within operational management systems and working with corporate clients.
Appropriate recognised professional HSSE qualifications and memberships.
Management system development, implementation and auditing experience.
Deep understanding of the HSSE regulatory environment in major markets.
Experience implementing HSSE technology platforms and data management tools across multiple countries & regions.
Practical working knowledge of up‑to‑date tools and techniques within a real estate environment and risk management across a complex multi‑site property portfolio.
Significant practical experience of solving HSSE issues in a dynamic/diverse environment and implementing risk control systems and processes.
An agile approach to leadership and stakeholder management – able to operate effectively in a matrix structure.
A strong orientation to goals and measurable results.
Excellent communication skills to coach and educate at all levels of the account.
Multi‑lingual, with a minimum of Spanish and English speaking, and a good level of competency in both languages.
