Do you want to contribute to the development of new eggplant varieties? Are you passionate about plant breeding? Then you are the Selector Eggplant we are looking for to strengthen our breeding team in El Ejido (Almeria), Spain!
Responsibilities
The Eggplant breeding department of Rijk Zwaan Ibérica develops tomato varieties for many different market segments worldwide. As a Selector Eggplant, based in Spain, you will be part of our Eggplant breeding team developing varieties for the open field market segment. As Selector you will be working on new varieties, plant concepts and disease resistances, in close contact with the market they are intended for and in close cooperation with the sales team. You work alternatively in the greenhouse and the office. In addition, you are involved in:
Various breeding tasks such as phenotyping, evaluation and administration of various selection and variety trials, both on location and abroad.
International travel to judge variety trials.
Setting up variety trials with different stakeholders like customers or research institutes.
Taking part in strategic discussions about the breeding program.
Qualifications
What is your added value? You are a real team player. You are proactive, creative, flexible and solution oriented. You like to take initiative. You have an eye for detail and are practical and pragmatic. You work in a structured manner and have excellent communication, organizational and administrative skills. Mastering the English language is a prerequisite.
A finished education at BSc or MSc level in horticulture, agriculture, applied biology or plant breeding.
Experience of at least 2 years.
Willingness to travel.
Good command of English and Spanish.
