Scientific Instrumentation Technical Sales RepresentativeA fast-growing deep‑tech startup transforming microbiology testing with AI‑powered solutions. Their technology enables real‑time detection of bacteria and pathogens, drastically reducing testing times from days to minutes. It is applied across multiple industries, including food, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and advanced therapy manufacturing, helping companies improve safety, quality control, and operational efficiency. The team combines expertise in biology, AI, and photonics to deliver innovative, scalable solutions that bridge science and industry.ResponsibilitiesIdentify and contact potential customers in relevant industries (for example: food, personal care, pharma, or industrial labs) through cold emails, calls, and targeted outreach to key stakeholders.Speak with different profiles inside those organisations – from quality or lab teams to operations managers and senior leadership – to understand how they work today and whether your solution can improve their processes.Run demos and prepare proposals, turning complex technical features into clear business value such as saving time, reducing risk, or improving efficiency.Support initial commercial discussions, including pricing options and the structure of a trial or pilot agreement for early customers.Work closely with internal product, scientific, and technical teams to design and coordinate pilots so the solution can be tested smoothly in the customer’s environment.Bring back feedback from the field to help refine messaging, positioning, and, where relevant, how the product is presented or prioritised.RequirementsSomeone comfortable with scientific or technical topics, who can speak credibly with lab, quality, or engineering teams without needing to be a full‑time researcher.Someone who enjoys combining science/tech with relationship‑building, persuasion, and negotiation rather than doing purely lab or purely desk‑based work.Someone persistent, proactive, and confident communicating with a wide range of people, from hands‑on specialists to senior managers.Someone who likes fast‑moving, early‑stage environments where there is variety, autonomy, and the need to take ownership rather than follow a rigid script.You are the person who brings a complex technical solution out of the lab and into real‑world use: finding organisations with a clear need, showing them how the technology solves concrete operational problems, and helping them move from interest to pilot to early adoption, please email an updated CV to me at agreatorex@barringtonjames.com
