CIC energiGUNE is a research center specialized in energy, electrochemical storage (batteries and supercapacitors), thermal energy solutions and hydrogen, a member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance- BRTA, and, a strategic initiative of the Basque Government. CIC energiGUNE was created in 2011 to generate excellent knowledge and at the same time useful for the Basque business network, being a reference in knowledge transfer.CIC energiGUNEhas a dynamic research team of more than 100 researchers and is extremely well equipped with a wide range of up-to-date facilities that are fully available for all its researchers. Also, the European Commission has recently awarded CIC energiGUNE with the ´HR Excellence in Research´ which reflects its commitment to achieving fair and transparent recruitment and appraisal procedures and certifies the existence of a stimulating and favorable work environment for researchers in the institution.CIC energiGUNE is recruiting a predoctoral researcher to develop, adapt and validate recycling strategies for next-generation lithium‑ion battery waste containing silicon–graphite anode materials, with a focus on both manufacturing scraps and end‑of‑life black mass (i.E end of life batteries).Main job functions- Develop and test lab‑scale recycling routes using different physico‑chemical separation processes for lithium‑ion battery materials containing silicon‑graphite anodes, including production scraps and black mass.- Carry out basic process optimization steps such as material pretreatment, delamination, leaching, purification and recovery of valuable battery materials.- Characterize recovered materials using common physicochemical and electrochemical techniques, in collaboration with specialized researchers when needed.- Analyze experimental results, prepare reports and contribute to scientific publications, project meetings and dissemination activities.Area: Electrochemical Enery Storage and Conversion (EESC)Group: Inorganic Materials for BatteriesWHAT WE OFFER- We are offering a 3-year predoctoral contract and advantageous professional development opportunities with the possibility of renewal based upon satisfactory job performance, continuing availability of funds, and ongoing operational needs.- Professional and personal development: opportunity to attend seminars, international conferences, trainings, etc.- Integrated, enthusiastic, international and multidisciplinary environment.Once selected, the candidate will apply jointly with the centre for a predoctoral grant from the Basque Government.LIFE-BALANCE BENEFITS- Flexible working hours promoting work‑life balance and self‑organization.- On‑site work model with the option to telework.- Awelcome program that offers help with finding accommodation and addresses other aspects to help you integrate into the local environment (such as free language courses, assistance with the administrative procedures, help with schools for children…)The selection process ends once the candidate is selected.CIC energiGUNE is committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and the diversity of its workforce. Therefore, as part of our commitment to inclusion, we welcome applications regardless of gender identity, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability and age.- Master’s in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrochemistry, Environmental Engineering, Energy Storage, Metallurgy or a closely related discipline.- Previous hands‑on chemistry laboratory experience, for example through a master’s thesis, research project, internship or industrial placement.- Basic knowledge of chemical processing and materials characterization, including sample preparation, data interpretation and safe laboratory practice.- Motivation to work on battery recycling, circular economy, critical raw materials and sustainable process development.- Good written and spoken English.- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.#J-18808-Ljbffr
