Military - Operations Manager, Operations
This role focuses on those who have military experience who are interested in working in the private sector. Amazon’s military recruiting team is available to discuss the many opportunities within Amazon Operations.
Amazon’s operations team is the heartbeat of our business, ensuring that orders are fulfilled and dispatched efficiently so that our customers get their items on time. As an Operations Manager, you will lead other managers and create the operational plan that helps your teams meet their targets, driving excellence in safety, quality, and productivity across our sites.
Key Job Responsibilities
Manage and develop a team of Area Managers
Lead operational teams on a shift, deal with issues, and positively impact site performance
Analyse shift performance against relevant business objectives, and put in place actions to improve operational excellence
Work closely with other support teams, including HR, Finance, Health and Safety, and Security
Design and deliver initiatives across the sites to improve operational performance
A Day in the Life
You’ll lead shifts at one of our operational sites and serve as the key link between a number of teams, including finance, safety and operations integration teams. You’ll participate in daily meetings, deep‑dive into performance and risk metrics, and prepare for varying demand levels while mentoring and coaching your team.
About the Team
Customer Fulfilment (CF) is the foundation of Amazon’s operations, handling more than 1.5million orders a day. As part of the CF team, you’ll work in Fulfilment Centres—often referred to as the ‘First Mile’—helping manage dynamic inventory and expedite deliveries worldwide. The team offers diverse opportunities across physical product handling, data analysis, and decision‑support roles.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, or Master's degree
Experience in people and stakeholder management
Experience in English‑language communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in transportation and supply chain
Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen techniques
Experience in warehouse operations
Experience working with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional environment
