The Nurse Practitioner (NP) delivers high‑quality, patient‑centered care for individuals with acute or chronic health conditions. Practicing within their licensed scope, the NP performs comprehensive assessments, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, initiates treatment plans, and manages patient care in collaboration with physicians. This role promotes patient wellness, coordinates referrals, and ensures compliance with clinical standards and organizational policies.Essential FunctionsConduct patient histories, physical examinations, and clinical assessments.Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures.Provide preventative healthcare services, immunizations, and health screenings.Prescribe medications and formulate treatment plans under applicable prescriptive authority.Refer patients to specialists and community resources as needed.Document all care in the electronic medical record accurately and timely.Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatment options, and wellness strategies.Promote informed decision‑making and respect patient autonomy and cultural preferences.Maintain responsibility for care throughout the course of treatment, including discharge planning.Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and participate in performance improvement initiatives.Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/ExpectationsStrong clinical reasoning and diagnostic abilitiesEffective communication and patient education skillsKnowledge of primary care and/or specialty medicine depending on settingProficiency in EHR documentation and patient management systemsAbility to function independently in high‑pressure environmentsCommitment to evidence‑based practice and patient safetyFrequent walking, standing, and patient interactionOccasional lifting/carrying of patients or equipment (up to 25–50 lbs)Requires visual and auditory acuity for assessments and communicationClinic or hospital settingExposure to biohazards, infectious disease, and medical equipmentOccasional exposure to chemical agents, latex, and medical wasteQualifications
EducationBachelor’s degree in Nursing (Required)Master’s degree in Nursing (Required)Licenses/CertificationsCurrent Nurse Practitioner license in the state of practice (Required)Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) certification (Required)Basic Life Support (BLS) (Required)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (Required within 30 days of hire)Experience3–5 years of experience as a Hospitalist Nurse Practitioner (required)#J-18808-Ljbffr
