This role owns the quality, direction, and impact of all data science output across the organisation. You will lead senior data science leaders, partner closely with executive stakeholders, and ensure advanced AI solutions are delivered responsibly, transparently, and at scale. The position reports into the executive AI leadership team and plays a critical role in shaping how data science drives operational, commercial, and strategic decision-making across multiple domains. Key Responsibilities Own and define the data science vision, standards, and strategy across the organisation Act as the senior authority on the quality, robustness, and business relevance of all data science work Lead, mentor, and scale a multi-layered data science organisation (Heads / Leads / Principals) Oversee the design, deployment, and scaling of AI solutions into production environments Partner with senior business stakeholders to translate complex challenges into data-driven solutions Clearly justify and communicate model choice, deployment strategies, and trade-offs to non-technical audiences Ensure strong governance, ethical AI practices, and regulatory compliance across all initiatives Stay at the forefront of advances in AI, integrating new methods where they deliver genuine business value Operate in a highly stakeholder-facing role , with frequent travel to align teams and leadership across locations Required Experience & Background 10+ years’ experience in Data Science / AI , with 3+ years in senior leadership roles Proven experience leading large data science organisations (20+ data scientists) Track record of delivering high-impact AI solutions at scale within complex environments Strong background across multiple areas of AI (e.G. ML, optimisation, simulation, deep learning, generative AI) Experience operating across multiple concurrent projects and domains Exceptional xsgfvud ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to senior, non-technical stakeholders Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional, matrixed organisations Desirable PhD in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field Experience in regulated, operationally complex, or safety-critical environments Strong consultancy-style background with executive-level stakeholder engagement Why This Role Lead a rapidly scaling data science function during a major growth phase High visibility and influence at the executive level Opportunity to shape AI strategy across a large, international organisation Work with advanced, real-world AI problems with tangible impact
