- Objectives of this role
- The aim of this role is to provide a professional engineering service on site with customers to meet the needs of the business and satisfy customer requirements. Although this role will have a strong focus on automatic inspection machines, it is not limited to them. You will be expected to apply your wide range of skills across various equipment manufacturers in the pharmaceutical industry. Maintaining good customer relations by demonstrating a professional approach to work is essential, as is collaborating with colleagues to share knowledge, build together, and achieve our goals.
- Day-to-day responsibilities
- Full availability for frequent and extended travel, particularly throughout Asia and Europe, depending on project needs. Plan, manage, and execute service engineering, maintenance support, breakdown response, and spare parts support for existing customers. Build and maintain a positive rapport with customers, always demonstrating first-class interpersonal skills in a courteous and professional manner. Organise and prioritise a continuously changing workload, ensuring that all customer inquiries are addressed promptly. Apply initiative, practicality, and logic to problem-solving across all aspects of the role. Carry out routine customer support and service visits to maintain installed equipment. Maintain detailed support records to provide customers with consistent and reliable service history. Develop and nurture strong technical working relationships with equipment manufacturers. Deliver equipment and production process training to customers to improve equipment efficiency and output. Prepare Excel spreadsheets and Word documents for reporting purposes and validation documentation. Ensure full compliance with health and safety procedures and complete all required documentation for each customer visit. Assist team members as needed. Perform other duties as required, including travel and overnight stays to complete assigned tasks. Occasional weekend availability may be required; such hours will be treated as overtime and appropriately compensated.
- Experience, Knowledge & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant studies. Candidates with vocational training in mechanical or industrial maintenance, combined with hands-on skills or internships, are also encouraged to apply. 0–5 years of experience in a service engineering role. Experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry is a plus, but not essential. Understanding of basic image analysis tools (e.G. differences, blob analysis, binarization, erosion & expansion) is an advantage. Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, with interest in developing fault-finding skills. Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure in a dynamic, changing environment. Clear understanding of the responsibilities of a field service role, or willingness to learn quickly. Flexible and adaptable under pressure. Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Genuine interest in people, with the ability to interact with customers in a friendly and professional manner. Fluency in English (spoken and written) is essential.
