We are seeking an experiencedEHS Technician / EHS Engineerto support the EHS Lead on a major industrial construction project in Zaragoza.The successful candidate will work from the client side, supporting the implementation, monitoring and continuous improvement of site environmental, health and safety standards. Although reporting to the EHS Lead, the individual must be capable of working independently, managing their own priorities and adapting to changing project requirements.A candidate based locally in Zaragoza or the surrounding area is preferred. Non-local candidates will be considered where they have strong knowledge and practical experience of Spanish health and safety legislation.Key Responsibilities
Support the EHS Lead with the implementation of the project EHS management system.
Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks and workplace audits.
Monitor contractor and subcontractor compliance with project EHS procedures.
Identify unsafe conditions, behaviours and environmental risks, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
Review risk assessments, method statements, permits and other contractor safety documentation.
Support toolbox talks, safety inductions, briefings and EHS training activities.
Assist with the investigation of incidents, near misses and non-conformances.
Prepare inspection reports, observations, statistics and EHS documentation.
Track corrective actions and follow up with contractors to ensure timely close-out.
Support the management of high-risk construction activities, including lifting operations, work at height, electrical works, excavation, confined spaces and hot works.
Monitor the use of personal protective equipment and compliance with site safety rules.
Attend project meetings and provide EHS updates to the EHS Lead and wider project team.
Maintain accurate EHS records and support internal and external audits.
Work collaboratively with contractors while maintaining a clear client-side approach to safety compliance.
Adapt to changing site priorities and provide independent EHS coverage when required.Candidate Requirements
Previous experience as an EHS Technician, EHS Engineer, HSE Technician or similar position on a construction or industrial project.
Ability to work independently while supporting the wider EHS team.
Strong understanding of construction site hazards and control measures.
Knowledge of applicable Spanish occupational health and safety legislation and construction regulations.
Relevant Spanish PRL qualification or equivalent health and safety certification.
Experience reviewing risk assessments, method statements and permit-to-work documentation.
Confident communicating with contractors, supervisors, engineers and project management.
Strong reporting, documentation and organisational skills.
Adaptable, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced client-side environment.
Spanish language skills are essential.
English language skills are strongly preferred.
Local candidates from Zaragoza or the surrounding region are preferred.
Previous client-side, owner-side, EPCM or project management consultancy experience.
Experience on large-scale industrial, manufacturing, battery, automotive, data centre or energy construction projects.
Experience working within multinational project teams.
Environmental management or environmental compliance experience.
