About the schoolThe British School of Barcelona (BSB) is an HMC school judged outstanding in every area by a recent BSO inspection, including quality of education, safeguarding, pupil welfare and academic outcomes. The school serves over 2000 pupils from more than 74 nationalities across three locations and delivers the English National Curriculum together with a wide range of GCSEs, A levels and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. In 2026 BSB will open a new state-of-the-art campus at Maresme, initially enrolling students from Nursery to Year 6 and expanding to Year 13 by 2028. The campus will feature specialist classrooms, science laboratories, music and art facilities, dedicated play and study spaces, and indoor and outdoor sports facilities set against a mountain and coastal backdrop.

The roleWe are seeking an EAL Teacher with additional responsibilities to join BSB Maresme as Language Centre Lead. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality English language programmes, oversee the day-to-day operation of the Language Centre, assess language proficiency, design targeted interventions, monitor progress and work closely with families and colleagues. The role also supports new student admissions, contributes to programme development and helps drive the continued growth of the Language Centre.
Key responsibilitiesTeaching and student supportAssess English language proficiency and individual learning needs
Deliver targeted EAL support for individuals and small groups
Track progress, maintain records and adapt programmes accordingly
Manage Language Centre student cases and collaborate with staff and parents
Admissions and family engagementAssess prospective students English levels
Advise families on language support options
Support admissions processes and student transitions
Leadership and operationsOversee daily Language Centre operations including timetabling, enrolment, attendance, billing and records
Monitor student outcomes, participation and retention
Growth and developmentDrive Language Centre growth and programme development
Partner with admissions and marketing teams to promote services
Support community engagement and school events
Develop new learning opportunities and expand provision across campuses
Produce KPI and performance reports
RequirementsTEFL, CELTA, Trinity TESOL, DELTA or equivalent English language teaching qualification
Significant experience delivering English language intervention programmes
Strong understanding of second language acquisition and language development
Experience assessing English proficiency and planning targeted interventions
Proven ability to communicate effectively with parents and stakeholders
