Due Diligence Officer – BNP Paribas CIB BNP Paribas Corporate & Institutional Banking (CIB) offers a dynamic environment for a dedicated Due Diligence Officer to evaluate and mitigate risks in business transactions. The role reports to the KYC Manager of the Madrid KYC Hub and ultimately to the Head of KYC – Madrid Hub. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive due diligence on new and existing clients and counterparties, including KYC, financial statements, legal documents, and identification of Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBOs) and Politically Exposed Persons (PEPs). Perform KYCs on new customers, recertify existing customers, and manage off‑boarding. Analyze financial statements, legal documents, and other relevant information to assess risk factors. Monitor follow‑up elements related to documentation. Ensure compliance with international regulatory requirements, such as FATCA, CRS, MiFID, and others. Enter customer and beneficial owner information into databases and conduct background checks per policy. Review embargoes and vigilance screens for PEPs, utilizing relevant databases. Evaluate findings to assess potential risks and provide actionable recommendations to management. Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to align due‑diligence processes with regulations and company policies. Identify risks associated with specific transactions and propose mitigation strategies. Prepare detailed due‑diligence reports summarizing findings and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date documentation of due‑diligence activities, ensuring record‑keeping compliance. Update and monitor the status of all files in tools such as SharePoint and JIRA, ensuring data accuracy daily. Report key performance indicators (KPIs) and record meeting minutes. Train newcomers on policy and procedure updates, perform gap analysis, documentation collection, and KYC assembly in FENERGO and other tools. Provide training on tools and applications used by the Madrid KYC Hub. Work closely with relationship managers, legal teams, and other stakeholders to gather necessary valid information and coordinate the due‑diligence approach. Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to cross‑functional teams, including senior management. Assist the Head of KYC and the KYC manager(s) of the Hub with ad‑hoc projects. Proactively identify areas for process improvement within the due‑diligence function and update processes accordingly. Escalate incidents and monitor resolution until closure. Stay abreast of relevant laws and regulations governing the financial industry. Ensure adequate due‑diligence controls are performed to understand customer usage of Group products and services. Be vigilant that customer transactions are not related to bribery or corruption and report suspicious operations.
