The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a cutting-edge institute addressing global public health challenges through research, translation into policy and education. ISGlobal has a broad portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level. Research is organized in five programs: Climate, Air Pollution, Nature and Urban Health; Environment and Health over the Lifecourse; Global Viral and Bacterial Infections; Malaria and Neglected Parasitic Diseases and Maternal Child and Reproductive Health. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
ISGlobal is seeking a highly motivated Community Nurse to join the Viral Hepatitis Research Line at the Public Health Liver Group. The successful candidate will be the dedicated nurse for “The Health Equity Programme: Hepatitis Outreach for Migrant Populations” (HEP-HOP) project. The candidate will also play a key role in coordinating and organising community interventions for viral hepatitis education, screening and linkage to care activities for migrant and refugee populations across Catalonia.
The HEP-HOP project aims to contribute to overcoming barriers experienced by migrants and refugees in Europe to access and navigate prevention, screening, and care services for viral hepatitis. For that, HEP-HOP aims to improve, scale up, and evaluate community-based programmes for viral hepatitis screening, HBV vaccination, and linkage to care in Belgium, Latvia and Spain.
The project will be carried out in Catalonia, Spain, targeting migrant and refugee communities from mid- and high-prevalence countries.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform basic nursing activities such as blood extractions, rapid diagnostic testing and vaccination during community-based interventions.
Provide coordination of community-based interventions to offer viral hepatitis education, screening and linkage to care services in community spaces.
Establish collaborations with relevant communities and organisations across Catalonia.
Coordinate closely with the Study Coordinator to oversee study progress, ensure target communities were being reached and address operational challenges.
Provide language interpretation support during interventions (if possible and required)
Lead monitor of stock for interventions and coordinate with Study Coordinator to ensure available supply (e.g., rapid tests) at all times.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Collecting blood samples, performing rapid tests and administering the HBV vaccine during community-based interventions;
Ensure proper stock, storage, manipulation, and use of all biomedical material used in the interventions;
Provide language interpretation support if feasible and necessary;
Organize community-based interventions among migrant/refugee communities across Catalonia.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
Nursing degree;
Active nurse registration (registered with nursing regulatory body);
Experience working as a nurse;
LANGUAGE LEVEL
Written and spoken Catalan and Spanish is required.
English is an assett.
Additional languges including French, Wolof, Twi, Urdu, Ukranian, Romanian, Russian, Chinese, Bambara or Yoruba are a strong plus.
CONDITIONS
Contract: 1 year contract. part - time (15 hours per week).
Salary: According to ISGlobal internal salary scale
Work-Life Balance: 36 days off per year (23 vacation days + 13 personal days)
Start date: September 2026
SELECTION PROCESS
The selection process is designed in two phases:1- Interview phase of a technical nature, with the team that requires the incorporation. To assess the person's skills and CV.2 - Meeting with HR with the finalist(s) to finish assessing the profile and discuss contractual and institutional issues.
In accordance with the OTM-R principles, a gender-balanced recruitment panel is formed for every vacancy at the beginning of the process. After reviewing the content of the applications, the panel will start the interviews, with at least one technical and one administrative interview. A profile questionnaire as well as a technical exercise may be required during the process.
