Temporary Chief Engineer – 50m Private Motor Yacht
A 50m private motor yacht is seeking an experienced Temporary Chief Engineer to join the vessel in Palma de Mallorca.
The yacht has recently completed a dry dock period and is currently based in Palma where she will remain for the next few months, completing a refit phase, sea trials, and preparations for potential viewings due to the foreseeable sale of the vessel.
Position Details
Role: Seasonal Chief Engineer
Vessel: 50m Private Motor Yacht
Location: Palma de Mallorca, Spain
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Temporary (duration to cover refit, sea trials, and sales period)
Key Responsibilities
Oversee all engineering operations onboard during the refit period
Manage and maintain all mechanical, electrical, and technical systems
Liaise with shipyards, contractors, and management during ongoing works
Prepare and monitor systems for sea trials
Ensure compliance with safety, class, and flag requirements
Maintain accurate engineering logs and technical documentation
Requirements
Valid Chief Engineer certification appropriate for vessel size
Previous experience as Chief Engineer on similar‑sized yachts
Strong refit and shipyard experience preferred
Ability to coordinate contractors and manage technical projects
Excellent organisational and problem‑solving skills
