Shuttle Bus/Van Drivers WANTED! We're glad you're here! The Salamanca City Central School District needs more bus drivers and we believe you will find the role to be very rewarding, both personally and professionally. Do you enjoy driving? If you answered yes to any of these questions, a career as a school bus driver may be just what you're looking for! Minimum Qualifications Must be at least 21 years of age Valid Class D Driver's License $1,500 sign on BONUS that will be paid during the first year of employment. Time worked during training will count toward sign on bonus! As a licensed bus driver you would be responsible for driving one or all modes of transportation in our fleet that include: One of our two modified coach buses (red/gray bus) Full size standard yellow school bus (35 feet) Passenger Capacity 65-66 Micro school bus (20‑25 feet) Passenger Capacity 10‑15 Bus Driver Recruitment & Training Program The district provides an “in‑house” training program to individuals seeking licensure as a School Bus Driver. The district training program is through the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), specifically the Entry‑Level Driver Training (ELDT) program. There is no prescribed time limit on completing the training; however, the district aims to have you licensed and permitted to transport students within 12 months. Stop 2 – Interviewed by the Transportation Department Stop 4 – Medical Exam and Drug Testing Stop 5 – Appointed by the Board of Education Stop 6 – Orientation – Your First day as a WARRIOR!! Stop 7 – Physical Performance Test Stop 8 – Obtain a NYS CDL Learners permit with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) Endorsements Stop 9 – Board Appointment as a School Bus Driver Stop 10 – Driving a School Bus Stop 11 – Road Test Stop 12 – Licensed School Bus Driver!!!! 4 Hours per day with flexible schedules include options of both morning and afternoon shifts as well as evenings and weekends (field trips and sports). 10‑month positions have summers off.
