The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence, based in Barcelona, Spain, with more than 400 scientists from 44 countries. The CRG is composed of an interdisciplinary, motivated and creative scientific team which is supported both by a flexible and efficient administration and by high-end and innovative technologies. We are seeking motivated and skilled Web developer to implement sophisticated interfaces that have been created by a UX/UI designer. This front-end will integrate with a back-end system that manages discovery and sharing of biomedical data. The selected candidate will be contributing to the development of a platform that enables scientists to access and query the biomedical data generated by research and healthcare institutions worldwide while aligning with data privacy regulations. The position provides an opportunity to work on world-class collaborative scientific projects. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary team at the European Genome-phenome Archive (EGA) and will work closely with bioinformaticians, data curators, web designers, and other developers. About the EGA The EGA (European Genome-Phenome Archive) is a resource for permanent secure archiving and sharing of human genomics. We host more than 16 petabytes of data, that includes more than 3700 studies and 8600 datasets. The EGA, co-managed by the CRG and the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI), is an active partner in numerous international and national projects and contributes to establishing international standards in genomics and data security. The EGA team at CRG is a diverse group composed of bioinformaticians, developers and scientists from various backgrounds. In addition, we offer the possibility to grow in your career path. Professional Experience Must Have You have a strong background in Web frontend (HTML, CSS, JS). You have understanding of server-side aspects (including web security). You have experience in working with REST APIs for application and services integration. You have experience with containerization technology (such as Docker). Desirable but Not Required You have experience in Python (including async programming). You have knowledge of querying databases: SQL, ElasticSearch, MongoDB, Neo4J, etc. You have knowledge in unit testing and E2E testing using Cypress. You have knowledge of Java, PERL, Rust. You have experience in Data Curation, Data mining, harmonisation. You have knowledge of UX Design Experience and proficiency with design tools. A master’s in bioinformatics will be considered a plus. You speak Spanish and/or Catalan. Education and Training You hold a software engineer or related degree, or a strong equivalent experience. Languages You are fluent in English, as it is the working language of the group. Competences You are able to work timely and deliver the results when planned. You are accurate and detail-oriented. You are a team player. You care about the results of your work. The Offer – Working Conditions Contract duration: Technical and scientific activities contract - linked to project and budget duration. Estimated annual gross salary: Salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales. Target start date: as soon as possible.
