No Offer Description IMDEA Energy is opening a Predoctoral Researcher Position for the Electrical Systems Unit, looking for talented and motivated candidates to work on control solutions for renewable energy and storage grid integration using Virtual Power Plants. Tasks Description: R&D in development of control systems for renewable energy sources and energy storage systems in electricity networks. Modelling and design of primary and secondary controllers for Virtual Power Plants (VPPs). Modelling of electrical distribution networks with VPPs and development of grid ancillary services. Implementation and proof of concept of the control algorithms in a Power HIL environment (Smart Energy Integration Lab). Dissemination and publication of research results in scientific journals. Oficial Master Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Industrial Engineering, Control Systems or similar. Bachelor degree in Electrical, Electronic or Industrial Engineering, Control Systems or similar. Knowledge of Power Engineering, Power Electronics, Control Systems and Industrial Communications. Specific Requirements Knowledge in System Modelling, Power Networks, Renewable Energy Technologies, IT technologies and Real-Time Control systems. Knowledge of assessment tools for power network stability. Experience in modelling power networks, renewable energy sources and energy storage systems in Matlab/Simulink and DigSilent PowerFactory. Experience in use of Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) and Power-Hardware-In-the-Loop (PHIL) platforms. Oral and written communication skills in English.
