We’re inviting applications for a PhD position in experimental neutrino physics at the Valencia Experimental Group of Astroparticles (VEGA) at IFIC, within the KM3NeT–ORCA collaboration. The position is funded by the La Caixa Foundation (HOvER project) and focuses on hadronic shower modelling, Monte Carlo simulations, and neutrino oscillation analyses using real ORCA data. The successful candidate will join the KM3NeT collaboration, working within the ORCA (Oscillation Research with Cosmics in the Abyss) detector, a next-generation deep-sea Cherenkov telescope designed to study neutrino oscillations and determine the neutrino mass ordering using atmospheric neutrinos, which is already taking data. The candidate will study hadronic shower production in neutrino-nucleus Monte Carlo simulations, developing a data-driven approach to quantify and reduce one of modelling systematic uncertainties, and will take part in the analysis of KM3NeT ORCA data for neutrino oscillation measurements. The applicant should meet the following criteria:Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Physics, and a master in particle and/or nuclear physics.Experience with data analysis, Monte Carlo simulations and programming (C++, or similar) is highly desirable.Ability to work independently and as part of a large international collaboration.Proficiency in English (written and spoken).Previous experience in the field of experimental particle physics will be considered an asset.Interested candidates should submit the following before the 27th of February:Academic transcripts (Bachelor’s and Master’s).A brief motivation letter describing research interests and relevant experience.Applications should be sent by email to Dr. Júlia Tena Vidal (julia.tena-vidal@ific.uv.es).
