We look for colleagues who are enthusiastic about solving complex legal issues linked to data governance and exploitation of data ECHA holds for the purpose of working on protecting human health and environment in the European Union. The ideal candidate is highly motivated and eager to understand the legal issues related to the use of information from various sources creating software tools and databases to identify the need for regulation of chemicals in the EU and is not afraid of diving into the scientific and linked technical questions.2) Key responsibilitiesThe Legal Advisor is responsible for legal advice and will participate in different work areas of the Agency. The main tasks include the following:Providing legal analysis and legal advice on the regulations governing the work of the Agency especially in the area of data governance;Drafting and/or checking guidance, templates, operational procedures, implementing rules, guidelines especially regarding to exploitation of information the Agency holds in its various processes, advising on issues such as protection of sensitive non-classified information, copyrights, software licensing and use of AI tools;Checking the legal correctness of documents;Contributing to training on legal issues;Performing legal research, analysis and follow-up of case-law.To qualify for this profile,you must have completed university studies of at least three (3) years , attested by a diploma.Only qualifications issued by EU Member State authorities or EEA authorities and qualifications recognised as equivalent by the relevant EU or EEA Member State authoritieswill be accepted.4) Professional experienceThere isno minimum professional experiencerequirement to be eligible for this profile.5) Selection criteriaIf you meet the eligibility criteria, you will be assessed on the basis of the following selection criteria:Your academic and professional qualificationsand their relevance to the main areas of work listed in section 2;Your university degreemust be in law, or you must also have a professional qualification entitling you to practice as a lawyer.Your professional experience : Preference will be given to candidates having experience in functions similar to those outlined in section 2. The Selection Committee will assess the range of fields covered, the type, and level of work done and its relevance to the areas of work listed in section 2.The following will be considered asassets :Past work for EU institutions, bodies, offices or agencies, or in the national administration in the area of re-use and disclosure of sensitive non-classified information (e.g. business secrets) under sectoral EU legislation relevant for regulation of chemicals;Past work on addressing legal issues with use of artificial intelligence for administrative and regulatory purposes preferably in EU institutions, bodies, offices or agencies,Experience in achieving tasks or projects in close collaboration with scientists or technical experts;Work experience gained in a similar multicultural environment.
