HSEQ Site Leader Tarragona.
Position Mission
Ensure excellence in Health Safety Environment and Quality (HSEQ) at the Tarragona (TGN) site with a strong focus on Health & Safety expertise while also acting as the coordination point with the HSEQ Managers of the other three Spanish sites (PAR, BCN, SMM) and as the HSEQ representative of Covestro Spain at global level.
Key Responsibility Areas
1. Health & Safety (Core Expertise)
Act as the Health & Safety subject‑matter expert ensuring compliance with legal requirements and Covestro standards.
Identify, assess and mitigate occupational health and safety risks, lead accident, incident and near‑miss investigations and implement preventive actions.
Drive a strong safety culture supporting leaders and employees in integrating safety into daily operations.
2. Environment (Environmental Governance & Regulatory Oversight)
Coordinate with the Environmental Manager to ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and regulatory requirements.
3. Quality (Quality Governance & Technical Understanding)
Coordinate with the Laboratory Coordinator leadership to ensure compliance with quality standards, procedures and internal standards.
Own and continuously improve the site Quality Management System (QMS) in line with ISO standards and corporate requirements.
Ensure full compliance with applicable regulations, customer requirements and internal standards.
4. Team Leadership & Site Coordination
Lead and develop the HSEQ team at the Tarragona site fostering capability, engagement and high performance.
Coordinate with the HSE leaders of the other three Spanish sites (PAR, BCN, SMM) to align HSE policies, standards and best practices across Spain.
5. Global Representation
Act as the HSEQ representative of Covestro Spain at global and regional level, ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, reporting requirements and global HSEQ initiatives.
Qualification Requirements
Strong leadership and team management capabilities, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities, resilience and adaptability in complex environments and a proactive mindset to foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety awareness.
University degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Engineering, Quality Management or a related field or equivalent qualifications with relevant work experience (BS in Chemical Engineering, BS in Science Engineering).
Master’s degree in occupational health and safety or a related discipline. Certified Higher Technician in Occupational Risk Prevention with specialization in at least one area: Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Ergonomics.
5–10 years of experience in senior leader position including areas of HSE/Q roles within industrial chemical manufacturing or related environments, including experience managing teams.
Proven experience leading audits and interacting with external stakeholders.
Strong expertise in QMS deviation management, root cause analysis and regulatory compliance.
Languages: Spanish – C2 / Native; English – B2/C1 (spoken and written) enabling effective communication in a global environment.
