Main duties and responsibilities: Data Governance Leadership Develop and maintain the enterprise Data Governance Framework aligned with DAMA-DMBOK principles. Define data policies, standards, and procedures, including data ownership, stewardship, classification, and lifecycle management. Establish and run Data Governance Councils, Data Steward Communities, and related groups. Drive adoption of governance practices across business units and IT teams. Data Quality Management Design and implement enterprise data quality strategies, metrics, and KPIs. Lead data quality assessments, root-cause analyses, and remediation plans. Own the Data Quality Framework, ensuring comprehensive coverage of accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness, and lineage. Partner with business data owners to define data quality rules, thresholds, and monitoring. Azure Data Platform & Technology Enablement Utilize Azure services such as Azure Purview (Microsoft Purview), Azure Data Lake and Azure SQL to deliver governance and quality initiatives. Own setup and management of metadata catalogues, lineage tracking, and automated classification. Work with architects to define governance controls within Azure cloud architectures. Support integration of governance tools with enterprise MDM, ERP, CRM, and analytics platforms. Data Stewardship & Collaboration Provide leadership, mentoring, and guidance to data stewards and data owners. Drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure consistent data definitions and business glossaries. Facilitate conflict resolution regarding data definitions, lineage discrepancies, and policies. Risk, Compliance & Security Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (GDPR, ISO, etc.). Partner with Cloud, Security and Compliance teams to implement data access controls, retention, and classification. Maintain audit trails and governance reporting dashboards. Change Management & Communication Lead data governance awareness programs and training sessions. Communicate governance maturity progress and value realization to stakeholders and executives. Support organizational change management for data initiatives Core competencies and requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field or relevant work experience Work experience: 5+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or data management roles. Strong working knowledge of DAMA-DMBOK concepts and frameworks. Proven experience with Microsoft Azure data services, including Azure Purview, Data Lake, Informatica MDM, SAP MDM, Oracle MDM, or similar, e.g., Collibra, Alation, Atlan. Hands‑on experience with metadata management, lineage, cataloging, and data quality tools Familiarity with data management technologies such as data integration, ETL, data warehousing, and data quality tools. Industry certifications (e.g., CDMP, Azure Data Engineer, Azure Data Scientist). Core competencies: Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data landscapes. Exceptional communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills. Strategic mindset and ability to implement long‑term governance frameworks. Strong problem‑solving abilities with a structured, methodical approach. Leadership and influence across cross‑functional technical and business teams. Change management and organizational communication skills.
