You will use the latest technology to improve, streamline and automate our plant processes, reducing the need for human interaction and maximising efficiency. You will be responsible for the planning, implementing, operating and monitoring of systems. We are seeking an automation engineer with a robust background in electronics and instrumentation.The ideal candidate should be proficient in assembling complete PLC systems, encompassing both digital and analogue sensors to variable frequency drives. Additionally, the candidate must be able to program basic automation and develop straightforward Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) for pilot plants and testing environments. Proficiency with Siemens PLCs and associated systems will be highly valued.In this role, you will be responsible for leading and executing all tasks required to deliver a complete automation system for a chemical process at pilot scale, while also guiding and supporting the team in scaling up to demo and full commercial operations. Identifying new opportunities for automation within industrial processesSimulating and testing these processes or equipment to ensure they function as desiredDesigning, programming and implementing new process control and automation systems, specifically with Siemens & BeckhoffProcuring relevant sensors and actuators for process control systemsWriting technical reports outlining new concepts, testing outcomes, and ongoing efficiencyDeveloping and maintaining clear and accurate documentation of automation equipment or processesTraining operating staff after modifying or implementing new processes or equipmentHas 5+ years relevant experience in designing and implementing industrial process automation and control systemsConsistent track record of working on and collectively delivering sophisticated projectsUnderstanding of renewable energy concepts, trends, and economicsStrong knowledge of instrumentation, including integration of sensors, electrical equipment, and motor controls to test communication and functionalityFamiliarity with Siemens and Beckhoff PLC systems (or similar), with proven ability to design, configure, and troubleshootExperience in data collection and processing, with knowledge of machine learning applications considered a strong advantage for driving efficiency improvementsAbility to work fluidly and effectively across business, operations, engineering, and industrial teamsSelf-starter who thrives in constantly evolving environments, ideally with early-stageFluent in EnglishFluent in SpanishRelocation packageStartup equity and performance incentivesBudget for training and developmentQuarterly team lunches and socialsWe innovate to better serve our planet – we believe innovation is crucial in tackling climate change.We are passionate and win together – we know that success is a result of great teams, positive energy and collaboration.
