Senior Editor, The Lancet Regional Health EuropeDo you enjoy using science to drive change in the world?Are you passionate about improving health outcomes in Europe?About The Roleis a Open Access journal, part of the 's global initiative to advocate for health-care quality and access in all regions of the world.We are a small and friendly team handling a high volume of submissions while priding ourselves on offering a personalised service to the researchers who publish with us.The Senior Editor will work with fellow Senior Editors and the Editor-in-Chief in all aspects of the organisation and preparation of the journal.You will encounter some of the best research in Europe,collaborate with a regional and global authorship base, and get to work closely with other journal editors as well as our production, marketing, communications, and administration.ResponsibilitiesContribute critically to the selection of the journal content.Identify experts to act as peer reviewers on selected submissions.Write editorials.Commission content to build our journal’s profile among the communities we serve and handle special project content as necessary.Develop and maintain links with the regional health community to solicit high-quality research and thought leadership for the journal.Attend conferences and other events, to represent the journal, to identify suitable topics and authors, and to keep up-to-date with current developments in regional health.Suggesting and helping to develop new initiatives for future development and enhancement of the journal.RequirementsHigher degree (PhD) in a relevant discipline (eg, biomedical science, public health, global health), or a medical degree (MD).Post-doc experience is desirable but not an absolute requirement.Research experience in a relevant field or experience in the wider development community.Editorial experience, with a good understanding of all aspects of the journal publishing process would be an added advantage but not an absolute requirement.First-class critical analysis skills.A genuine commitment to equity in health and health care.An unfailingly can-do attitude.Enjoy collaborating with teams to deliver successful projects and initiatives on time.Have a natural ability to engage, influence and build relationships with stakeholders, teams and our community.Be accustomed to diversity and working globally and can connect with colleagues at all levels of the organization.Demonstrate alignment with the Lancet’s values.Work in a way that works for youWe promote a healthy work / life balance across the organisation.With an average length of service of 9 years, we are confident that we offer an appealing working prospect for our people.With numerous wellbeing initiatives, shared parental leave, study assistance and sabbaticals, we will help you meet your immediate responsibilities and your long-term goals.The role is open to locations in Germany and Amsterdam too, where Elsevier has an office.Working remotely from home and our office in a flexible hybrid pattern.Working flexible hours - flexing the times when you work in the day to help you fit everything in and work when you are the most productive.Working with usWe are an equal opportunity employer with a commitment to help you succeed.
